By: Aizel Melody Villaruz, Business Communication Officer
An evening of reminiscing, thanksgiving and recognition, Villaruz, Villaruz & Co. CPAs celebrated its 35th year founding anniversary last September 15, 2023 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.
It was indeed a September to remember as VVC hosted a Thanksgiving Night to commemorate its 35th founding anniversary entitled “Stronger @ 35: IGNITE. INNOVATE. INSPIRE.” In attendance were distinguished guests and friends from the industry, dear clients, and VVC members from past and present. The evening was filled with speeches, greetings, and spectacular performances that all convey messages of resilience, strength, appreciation, and love.
Guests were welcomed by VVC’s Co-Founder and Senior Partner, George V. Villaruz. Greetings were offered by special guests namely, Paul Wan, Chair of Morison Global; Ma. Asuncion Golez, Past PICPA President; and Maria Teresita Dimaculangan, Member, PRC Board of Accountancy. Some of VVC’s senior officers also graced the stage like Lovely Del Amen-Aquino, Deputy Managing Partner for Operations, who reminisced about VVC’s history by presenting the Time Capsule from the 25th anniversary celebration; and Jocelyn Calma, who delivered an acceptance speech for her 26-Year Service Award.
Along with Jocelyn, a total of thirty-two other VVC Members were presented with Service Awards to recognize their contribution and loyalty to the firm over the years. These awardees have a tenure of 3 years up to 35 years – truly a milestone to celebrate and recognize.
In between, guests were treated to a myriad of song and dance performances that made the evening even more memorable and festive. It began with a rendition of Josh Groban’s Thankful by The Music Ministry as invocation, followed by amazing song and dance numbers by VVC singers and dancers to the tune of Katy Perry’s Roar, Jackie DeShannon’s What the World Needs Now, Stevie Wonder’s You Are The Sunshine of My Life (dedicated to VVC’s clients), and Sister Sledge’s We Are Family. VVC’s very own Enrico Villaruz, ABS-CBN Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 5’s 4-time defending champion, also serenaded guests with his vocal stylings, while the musical performances of Paul Wan kept everyone entertained through dinner. Last but not least, Arlene Aclan’s dance number capped the night’s performances as she and her team of dance instructors opened the dance floor for the after-party.
The night would not have been complete without the message of VVC’s Founder and Managing Partner, Normita L. Villaruz, who spoke about how far VVC has come, the hurdles it surpassed and the bright and exciting opportunities that still lie ahead for the 35-year-old firm. She also expressed heartfelt thanks to family, friends and clients for their unwavering trust and support, and to the whole VVC for their dedication and loyalty.
Everyone at VVC is truly grateful for that blessed September evening and specially to all the guests who attended, sent messages and took part in the program. The 35th anniversary celebration truly was one for the books and will be treasured for many years to come.
